广东人张三波（梁醒波）和外省人李四宝（刘恩甲）经营洋服店，同租一个公寓。两人抢生意，且因南北方人生活习惯不同，常有争执。梁醒波反对女儿丽珍（白露明）与外省人王文安（雷震）谈朋友，李四宝反对女儿翠华（丁皓）与广东人麦永辉（张清）交往。后来张三波，李四宝因资金问题使经营受挫，分别及时得到两个年轻人的帮助，张三波和李四宝放弃偏见，同意孩子的婚事。最后两家洋服店合并，一起发财。。Judge Foster throws his daughter out because she married a circus man.
