在新生ALO中，桐人、亚丝娜和结衣谈到了鲸鱼，从没有见过鲸鱼的结衣对鲸鱼非常感兴趣，为了帮助结衣桐人想到了新生ALO中海边的任务。不料直叶却不会游泳，为了能正常进行海边的任务大家决定对直叶进行游泳特训。与此同时，桐人被菊冈诚二郎以“心理咨询”的名义骗至心理咨询室，并从桐人处详细调查了“SAO”和“ALO”等事件。桐人离开菊冈诚二郎处后登入新生ALO与大家一起进行了“深海掠夺者”的任务，最终返回时结衣如愿以偿地见到了鲸鱼。后桐人再次接到了菊冈诚二郎的电话。（打算委托桐人调查“GGO”，此时剧情进入“幽灵子弹篇”）。阿凡悔过重生，浪子回头，踩在时代的风口上带领兄弟们走上致富道路。冥冥之中阿凡意识到时机有限，看着自己曾经的遗憾被弥补，于是披上西装，潇洒离去。一阵白光闪过，老年阿凡从病床上睁开眼睛，看着四周的环境，暗暗叹气道原来是个梦....。In the Post-World War II, in Los Angeles, a criminal shots and kills a police officer in the middle of the night.
