位于苏格兰一个远离尘嚣的偏远所在，一家修道院内，名为迈克尔·卡罗尔的神父意外身亡，其死因始终未能判定。在此之后，警方通知了卡罗尔神父自幼相依为命的姐姐格蕾丝（吉娜·马隆 Jena Malone 饰）。由于童年的遭遇，格蕾丝始终独自生活，并且对宗教带着些许抵触，但这并不妨碍姐弟二人的情深意笃。得知弟弟死讯，悲伤的格蕾丝迅速赶往这家修道院，而当看到弟弟的尸体后，她对迈克尔的死因更多了几分狐疑和猜测。与之相对，修道院院长针对卡罗尔神父的事件不仅轻描淡写，似乎还在隐藏着什么。 从小有着特殊体质的格蕾丝，在这个诡异的地方，看到了某些诡异的东西……。6 out of 7 people found the following comment useful.
