本片改编自真实故事，1959年，记者艾德为了见到偶像海明威，只身到古巴探险。海明威与她的妻子玛丽隐居在那里的一处地产上。艾德见到了海明威，并和他成为了朋友，他们一起钓鱼，饮酒，畅谈。虽然时值古巴革命战争期间，艾德还是从这几年的生活中学到了许多哲理，而且明白一切英雄都也只是普通人。。Two young men (Jon Cryer, Rick Stear) who have been friends since early childhood decide to go on a trip to find a third friend (Rafael Baez) who has long since disappeared. Stories they have heard indicate that the friend has been seen in an apparently rambling, incoherent state at Coney Island.
